Inauguration of Board of Volunteers
Press Release by Muhammed Aasia (Project Manager)
Human trafficking is currently the fastest growing crime in the world. Our country Nigeria has been named by the United Nations office on drugs and crimes (UNODC) among the top eight countries involved in human trafficking in the world. At the lunch of the UNODC report on human trafficking, the Executive Director, UNODC said that “many Governments are still in denial and there is even neglect when it comes to either reporting on or prosecuting cases of human trafficking”.
In order to help raise awareness on this crime, the Academy for Prevention of Human Trafficking and Other Related Matters (a subsidiary of DEVATOP centre for Africa development) partnered with National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Fight against Child Trafficking, and Dorothy Njemanze Foundation in 2015 to organize an anti human trafficking advocacy course where over 68 advocates from different organizations were trained.
To further its action towards elimination of this heinous crime, the Academy has organized a volunteers’ symposium, so you can be a part of this fight for humanity.
